2005 Ford GT

I recently had the pleasure of photographing and driving this 2005 Ford GT. I remember when this model came out in 2005 and it was a huge success. I recall its MSRP being $150,000, but also remember that most went for a lot more money than that. The first one bought was purchased by some software big wig who paid over half a million dollars for it. Today they are selling in the $300,000 range and exceptional examples list for $450,000.

I remember that many snobs criticized the GT's plebian 5.4L engine, which was a mainstay of the Ford's truck line at the time, but while the two engines were similar, the GT's had some changes. Chief among these differences was that the GT's engine was all aluminum and featured four valves per cylinder. Also, being supercharged gave it over 500 horsepower, which resulted in a 0-60 time of 3.3. seconds.

It is a beautiful car and has just over 7,000 miles on it. The car started, ran and idled perfectly and I loved standing behind it while it was running. The owner of this GT is selling it an upcoming Mecum auction and I was fortunate enough to be the one who photographed it for the Mecum brochure. I hope he gets what he wants for it.
